Groovy Corp Announces International Collaboration Deal With Intel
San Francisco, California, March 31st, 2009 - Groovy Corp, the leader in multicore optimized, SQL standards database software, announced today a collaboration agreement with Intel Corp (NASDAQ: INTC). Groovy will develop a new range of database appliance servers (GroovyDB) based on Intel’s multicore processors and Groovy’s patent pending multicore database virtualization software.

The collaboration is designed to provide enhanced high performance and scale for enterprise class database servers, specifically addressing the growing demands of web based applications and cloud computing. Intel Capital has also taken a warrant to purchase ordinary shares of Groovy Corporation. “Groovy’s software architecture incorporates high performing real time virtualization embedded at the processor core level, which is specifically optimized to leverage the full potential of Intel’s multicore servers in database applications”, said Joe Ward, CEO Groovy Corporation.

“This is a key differentiator, and it enables the combination of Groovy and Intel’s commodity-priced multicore super computers to be a substantial step-change improvement in performance, scale and cost for high transaction rate for web and cloud computing customers.”

“The GroovyDB appliance is based on a 24 core Intel server powered by four, six-core Xeon® processors and positioned to provide unparalleled performance and cost effectiveness. Our goal is to achieve a number one ranking on TPC.org’s TPC benchmark, the industry standard for measuring database performance in the web-based price/performance categories. Early stage performance results point to the GroovyDB achieving this result, this year” said Mr. Ward.

“In this relationship, we see Intel and Groovy pioneering a substantial lead in high performance scalable, LIVE data management” said Narendra Bhandari, Director of APAC Software and Solutions Group (SSG) at Intel Corporation. “Our objective in this agreement is to provide our customers with the necessary technology alliances that will enable the GroovyDB in a performing and cost effective manner”.
